FAQ’s – Alfalah American Express Cards

All retail purchases qualify for Cashback rewards. Cashback rewards will be issued based on the Cashback rate established by us (1% on local retail spend and 1.5% on international retail spend). If you spend locally using your American Express Gold Credit Card you will earn 1% Cashback rewards – that’s Rs. 1 back on every Rs. 100 of net new purchases. For example, if your account statement showed Rs. 555.00 in net new purchases, you would receive Rs. 5.55 in Cashback rewards (Rs. 555 x 1%= Rs. 5.55)

Cash advances, interest charges, fees, payments, credit or debit adjustments and any amount other than retail purchases that may be charged to your Account with your card or cheques, do not qualify for Cashback rewards. We may establish other qualifying and non-qualifying transactions from time to time.

As a welcome bonus, you will earn Cashback at the rate of 5% on up to a total of Rs. 6,000 on all retail purchases on your account (which shall include spending by you and your Supplementary Cardmembers) in the first 3 months of your American Express Gold Credit Card Membership, subject to Cashback Terms and Conditions. When the Cashback rate of 5% applies to a retail purchase during the welcome bonus period, the Cashback rate of 1% (if you are spending locally) and 1.5% (if you are spending internationally) will not be applied in addition to the Cashback rate of 5% to the same purchase. If accumulated Cashback on retail purchases at the rate of 5% during the welcome bonus period exceeds Rs. 6,000 in any month, Cashback will be earned at the standard rate of 1% (if you are spending locally) and 1.5% (if you are spending internationally) in that month subject to Cashback Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to retract, deduct and/or recompute any Cashback amount in cases where we, in our absolute discretion, deem that there is an abuse of the Cashback.

Cashback rewards are not transferable to any other account.

Chip cards are regular plastic credit, debit and pre-paid cards with an embedded microchip. The chip contains information that is encrypted and generates dynamic values for each transaction, making it harder for a criminal to copy or counterfeit the card and, therefore, less attractive to steal, providing greater security and peace of mind. A chip card also has a magnetic stripe on the back of the card.

Yes, chip cards provide a higher level of security when used at a chip-reading terminal, because the technology in the chip makes it difficult to copy or counterfeit.

There is an annual fee applicable for the Basic and Supplementary American Express Gold Credit Card. For a complete detail of charges, please refer to the prevailing Schedule of Charges.

Your credit limit is the maximum amount of credit approved in writing by Bank Alfalah. It is the amount that can be accessed through your credit card account. It also appears on your monthly statement.

The credit limit assigned to you is based on your income, net worth and credit worthiness determined from the information provided by you to us.

The minimum amount payable by you is 1% of the principal balance plus unpaid minimum payment amount of any previous statement of account, excess outstanding balance over the credit limit, billed markup, billed fees & charges and SBS installment (if any), or Rs. 500, whichever is higher

You can make your monthly payments by:

  1. Paying cash over the counter at any Bank Alfalah branch.
  2. Sending a cheque / pay order / draft in the name of Bank Alfalah Credit Cards by mail or through the Dropbox at Bank Alfalah Branches. Charges will be charged on all cheques that are returned unpaid. Please indicate your name and card number on the reverse side of the cheque.
  3. Auto debit for Bank Alfalah Account Holders (minimum balance or the total amount).
  4. Bank Alfalah ATMs, Alfa App & Alfalah Internet Banking for Bank Alfalah Account Holders

You can inform us of your new mailing address by either sending a signed written request to Bank Alfalah Credit Cards, or by sending us the completed address change form on the reverse side of your monthly statement.

If your Card is lost or stolen, please report it to 24-Hour Alfalah Contact Centre at 111 226 111 immediately.

If at any time, you face a problem regarding your American Express Gold Credit Card, please call 24-Hour Alfalah Contact Centre at 111 226 111 or write directly to Bank Alfalah Consumer Finance Division, 23-H, Gulberg II, Lahore.

If you notice any error or discrepancy in your monthly statement, report the matter to 24-Hour Alfalah Contact Centre immediately and confirm it in writing to our Customer Services within 7 days of your statement receiving date. In order to check statement entries and keep track of all your transactions, retain all your sales slips and printed receipts.

Yes, in case of medical emergencies or travel purposes you can exceed your assigned credit limit with prior approval of the Bank and if you have availed the excess over-limit facility on your card. Your card will be subject to Excess Limit Charges as per the prevailing Schedule of Bank Charges. Excess Over Limit shall be repayable in full in the next monthly bill payment.
