Biometric Verification Instructions for Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), Resident Pakistanis Temporarily Outside Pakistan & Joint Account Holders

To comply with State Bank of Pakistan’s regulation, the following instructions regarding the biometric verification of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), Resident Pakistanis Temporarily Outside Pakistan & Joint Account Holders (where one account holder is either a Non-Resident Pakistani (NRP) or is temporarily outside Pakistan) will be followed:

 

1. Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs)

The customers who fall under the definition of Non-Reside nt Pakistani (NRP) are required to provide the Bank a signed undertaking as detailed below along with the mentioned documents:

  • Customer’s NRP status along with proof (i.e. copy of valid passport, visa, entry/exit stamp, resident permit, etc.)
  • A copy of valid ID document (CNIC/NICOP)
  • Account number(s) of the customer’s account(s) maintained with the Bank
  • An undertaking by the customer to inform the bank of any change in his/her residency status (if possible duly attested by the concerned consulate or embassy in Pakistan)

2. Resident Pakistanis Temporarily Outside Pakistan

The customers who do not qualify under the definition of NRPs, but are currently, temporarily outside Pakistan for whichever reason, the Bank would require reasonable evidence to be provided by the customer regarding his/her absence from the country. The evidence could be a copy of their valid passport, visa, entry/exit stamp, resident permit, etc. and the expected date of their return to Pakistan (not more than 6 months, as stated by SBP).

 

Note: Upon returning to Pakistan, the biometric verification shall be performed immediately by the customer

 

3. Joint Account Holders Outside Pakistan

Biometric verification should be performed immediately by the joint account holder who is a resident Pakistani. As for the other joint account holder who is outside Pakistan, the process described above, point (1) and (2) will be followed depending upon his/her status.
