Special POS Machines
In order to use other VISA cards currently in the market you have to find outlets that carry special POS machines on which payroll cards can be used. Alfalah Prepaid Payroll Card is accepted at all those outlets displaying the VISA/Electron logo and having self-printing POS terminals.

Card Activation
For your safety, your Alfalah Prepaid Payroll Card is sent inactive to you. Your Alfalah Prepaid Payroll Card is ready to use from the moment you get it activated. Upon receipt of your card, you must sign across the signature panel at the back of your card.

To activate your card simply call the Bank Alfalah Call Centre 111-225-111.

Personal Identification Number (TPIN/ATM PIN) Issuance
Once your card has been activated, you may request the PBO (Phone Banking Officer) for the issuance of your TPIN and ATM PIN. Please beware that your PIN is very confidential. In case of being lost / stolen or known to someone else, report the matter immediately to our Call Center at 111-225-111 to request for a new PIN.

  • Please do not give away your card to anyone without cutting it into two halves vertically.
  • In case your card gets lost or stolen, immediately call 111-225-111.
  • Please do not disclose your PIN & personal information to anyone.
  • Beware of internet fraudsters & hackers.

The ATM PIN will only be required for ATM based transactions while the TPIN (Telephonic Personal Identification Number) will be required for any account related inquiries on IVR (Interactive Voice Response). Please ensure that you have attained your ATM PIN before trying to withdraw cash.

Foreign transactions

Transactions made outside Pakistan will be converted from the transaction currency to US Dollars, based on international exchange rate prevailing on that date (Currency Conversion rate is a rate selected by VISA from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable processing date, which may vary from the rate VISA itself receives, or the government-mandated rate in effect for the applicable processing date in each instance, plus or minus any adjustment determined by the issuer). In order to assist card members, all transactions will be converted to Pak Rupees for payment. This conversion will be based on the market exchange rate quoted by authorized money changers and in accordance with the Bank’s Procedures applicable from time to time.

Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions shall be applicable to the Alfalah Prepaid Card (“Cards”) and any person to whom such a Alfalah Prepaid Card has been issued by Bank Alfalah (“Cardholder”) shall be bound by these terms and conditions. Any person who has been issued a Alfalah Prepaid Card by Bank Alfalah and who has signed at the back of the Card and/or has used the Card shall be bound by these terms and conditions.

In these Terms and Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires:

I. Words with only singular number shall include the plural number and vice versa.
II. Any reference to a Cardholder includes where the context permits any or all heirs, executors, administrators and successors-in-interest.
III. The headings to the clauses shall not be taken into consideration in the interpretation or construction of these Terms and Conditions.
IV. Where the words "include" or "including" appear they are to be construed without limitation.

DEFINITIONS

“Bank” means Bank Alfalah Limited and only refers to the branches of Bank Alfalah Limited carrying on business in Pakistan.

“Card” means the applicable Bank Alfalah Prepaid Card including Payroll Cards, Gifts Cards and All Purpose Cards issued by the Bank to the Cardholder and subsequently issued renewal or replacement Cards, if any, unless the context otherwise requires.

All Purpose Card means a visa card issued by the Bank upon completion of the relevant form with the maximum limit of Rs. 500,000/-

Gift Card means a visa card with a maximum limit of Rs. 10,000/- valid upto its expiry date

Payroll Card means visa card issued by the Bank upon submission of Card application along with monthly top ups received from the Cardholder.

“Cardholder” means the original person to whom the BAL Alfalah Prepaid Card is duly issued by BAL and for whom the Account is first opened by the Bank.

“Bank Account/Card Account” means the Alfalah Prepaid Card account based on the Card number issued to the Cardholder, as the case may be, opened by the Bank for the purpose of entering debits incurred by or for the account of, and credits received by or for the Cardholder, under these terms and conditions and includes, without limitation, all debits incurred resulting from any transactions and/or cash withdrawals and/or Charges and/or Liabilities arising out of or in connection with any Card Transaction or otherwise

“Validity of the Card” means the maximum validity period for the Card. This period may be changed or modified by the Bank from time to time.

“Account Balance” means the total balance available in the relevant Bank Account, as the case may be, according to the Bank's records on the date the Statement of Account is issued including all charges and liabilities.

“ATM” means an automated teller machine or any card-operated machine or device whether belonging to the Bank or other participating banks or financial institutions or to the global ATM network, or the affiliated networks which accept the Card.

“Eligibility Criteria” means the criteria for the issuance of the BAL Alfalah Prepaid Card which shall be as per the requirements and policies of BAL and BAL shall at all times have the right to refuse issuance to such a person who does not fulfill the Eligibility Criteria.

“Cash Withdrawal” means any amount in any currency provided to the Cardholder by the Bank or participating bank or ATM displaying the scheme logo and whether in cash or other form of payment.

“Rupee” means Pakistani Rupee for the purpose of these Terms and Conditions.

“Card Transaction” means any Cash withdrawal or the amount charged by the Bank or any Merchant for any goods, services, benefits, or reservation obtained by the use of the Card or the Card numbers or the PIN or in any other manner by the Cardholder, including without limitation, mail, facsimile orders or reservation authorized or purported to have been authorized or made by the Cardholder, regardless of whether a sales or Cash withdrawal or other voucher or form is signed by the Card member.

“Charges” means the amount of all and any purchases charged and all amounts payable by the Cardholder, arising from the issue or use of the Card and includes, but is not limited to, all Card Transactions, costs, disbursements, fees imposed by the Bank and all loss and damage incurred or suffered or sustained by the Bank arising from or relating to the issue or use of the Card or breach of these Terms and Conditions by the Cardholder, or the Bank’s enforcement or attempted enforcement of its rights under these Terms and Conditions in connection therewith.

“Liabilities” means any or all amounts payable whatsoever by the Cardholder to the Bank pursuant hereto (other than Charges) including every type of exchange or other premium, fees, imposts, duties and levies of whatsoever kind and/or amounts such as delayed payment fees, cash withdrawal fees, stamp duties, excise or other taxes on provision of advances or credit or finance or otherwise and losses incurred or sustained by the Bank, if any, arising or resulting from any governmental actions or policies which effectively prevent repayment of foreign currency Charges of the Cardholder and further including, without limitation, fines, costs, expenses, damages (liquidated or otherwise) and legal costs and disbursements charged or incurred in connection with application and/or enforcement hereof.

“Merchant” means any retail and service outlets that has entered into a written agreement to accept Cards in the payment or reservation of goods and services.

“Merchant Establishment" shall mean establishments wherever located which honor the Card and shall include, among others, stores, shops, restaurants, hotels and airline organizations advertised as honoring the Card.

“Month” means calendar month.

“PIN” means the Personal Identification Number issued to the Cardholder to enable Card use at an ATM and/or other authorized terminals, displaying the scheme logo for a cash withdrawal.

“Statement of Account” means the Bank's periodic Statement of Account sent on Cardholder’s request to the Cardholder showing particulars of the Current Balance and charges.

1. These terms and conditions shall become effective upon the receipt of the Card by the Cardholder and shall be valid until the validity of the Card.

2. The Card shall not be transferable and no person other than the Cardholder whose name appears on the Card shall be permitted to use the Card.

3. The Card is valid for use at ATM’s and Merchant Establishments in Pakistan and abroad. The Card is valid up to the last working day of the month indicated on the Card.

4. In respect of Payroll Cards, crediting of salaries, bonuses, expenses and reimbursements shall be done every calendar month through information and instructions received from the relevant company of whom the Cardholder is an employee, by means of electronic data. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss, damage, expense, harm or inconvenience resulting from the loss, delay, interception, corruption, or alteration of any such electronic data and its content due to any reasons beyond reasonable control of the Bank. Furthermore, the Bank shall not be responsible in any manner for any consequences arising by reason of the Bank acting on the information and instructions received from the relevant company.

5. The Cardholder guarantees that all documents and information furnished to the Bank are correct, complete, legitimate and comply with all prevailing regulations.

6. The Cardholder shall be liable for all charges, liabilities, costs and expenses in respect of the Cards. The costs and expenses may be modified by Bank at its own discretion from time to time.

7.The Bank reserves the right to charge all Card transactions to the Bank Account immediately on receipt without any verbal and/or written verification from (or intimation to) the Cardholder.

8.The Bank shall be entitled to refuse any application form submitted in respect of the Card without assigning any reason for the same.

9.The Cardholder shall promptly inform/notify Bank in writing of any change or imminent change in any particulars stated in the relevant application form for the Card or any other information provided to the Bank. The Cardholder hereby also agrees to provide the Bank such other information or particulars as may be requested by the Bank from time to time.

10.In case of the occurrence of any of the following events, the Cardholder (in case of payroll cards, the employer) shall promptly notify the Bank, provided that the Bank shall under no circumstances be liable for any consequences resulting from the use of any information provided by the Cardholder which has not been duly updated by the Cardholder as required by these terms and conditions:
a. Any change in the Cardholder’s particulars or information including but not limited to office address, residential address, address of place of business, particulars relating to the employment of the Cardholder, and position in respect of the employment or his/her intention to reside outside of Pakistan, even if for a limited period of time.

11.The Cardholder shall not use the Card for any purpose or transaction prohibited by law or public policy and Bank may in its sole discretion decline such transactions as and when it deems fit and necessary and the Cardholder shall be liable for all consequences of such use. The Bank shall under no circumstances be liable for any consequences, loss or damage which may occur as a result of such a prohibited transaction and the Cardholder shall be under an obligation to reimburse the Bank for the full amount of any loss, damage or expense incurred whether directly or indirectly as a result of the Cardholder’s use of the Card for any purpose or transaction prohibited by law or public policy.

12. The Cardholder agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions and all amendments or modifications as may be made by the Bank from time to time to these terms and conditions at the Bank sole discretion. Furthermore, the Bank is entitled without any prior notice or liability to the Cardholder in any manner to either cancel or vary any benefits or features being offered in respect of the Card.

13. The Cardholder, only in respect of Payroll and All Purpose Cards, shall promptly notify the Bank in the event of loss or theft of the Card and shall provide the Bank with a written confirmation of the loss or theft with all necessary material particulars such as the relevant police report and such other particulars as may be required by the Bank from time to time. All decisions with respect to the replacement of the Card shall be in the sole discretion of the Bank and the decision of the Bank shall be final in all respects.

14. The Bank shall not be liable for any damage or loss incurred by the Cardholder arising out of any purchase made through the Card nor shall the Bank be liable for the quality of any goods or services received by the Cardholder by virtue of the Card.

15. The Cardholder hereby irrevocably authorizes the Bank to disclose such information relating to the Cardholder in respect of the Cards as is deemed appropriate by the Bank to any financial institution, bank, Bank’s branches or related or affiliated concerns or any other person or authority as the Bank in its sole discretion deems appropriate.

16. The decision of the Bank in respect of any dispute that may arise in connection with these terms and conditions shall be final and binding.

17. The Bank, its relevant officers and employees shall not be liable for any actions undertaken pursuant to any instructions issued by the Cardholder with respect to the Card and/or any transaction relating to the same. Further more the Cardholder shall not have any claim of any kind against the Bank, its relevant officers and employees arising out of or on the basis of or relating to any actions undertaken by the Bank, its relevant officers and employees pursuant to any instructions given at any time by the Cardholder.

18. In the event of breach by the Cardholder of any of the terms and conditions agreed upon herein, the Cardholder shall be liable for any costs/losses/expenses arising from such breach and shall hold the Bank harmless and indemnify the Bank in full and •immediately upon such breach. This in no way curtails the rights to any other lawful remedy that the Bank may have under the laws governing these terms and conditions. Breach of any terms or condition shall also give the Bank the right to terminate the transactions contemplated herein and the Bank may at its sole discretion take any other action under the policies of the Bank. The Cardholder shall also hold the Bank harmless and indemnify the Bank for any expenses/damages accruing to them due to any error or breach caused by the act/omission of the Cardholder with respect to the Card and any transactions related there to.

19. The Bank may at any time waive either unconditionally or otherwise any of these terms and conditions or any default or breach of the Cardholder provided that such waiver is given in writing by the Bank. The waiver of any breach or failure to enforce any term or condition contained herein shall not be construed as a waiver or a waiver of any other breach of the same or any other term or condition.

20. Each of these terms and conditions shall be severable and distinct from one another and if at any time, any one or more of such terms and conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal, unenforceable, the validity, legality or enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not in any way be affected or impaired thereby.

21. The Cardholder agrees to reimburse the Bank for payment of any taxes, levies or government duties payable or which subsequently become payable in respect of the Cards.

22. In the event of the occurrence of a Force Majeure event that directly affects the ability of the Bank hereto to perform its obligations hereunder, the Bank shall be entitled to suspend performance of such an obligation for the duration of the Force Majeure event. Force Majeure includes acts of God, war, hostilities, riots, civil commotion, strike, revolution, epidemic, accident, fire, flood, earthquake, blockade, or any other cause similar to the kind herein enumerated or of equivalent force not within the control of the Bank.

23. The Card, with the exception of the Gift Card, may be renewed by the Bank upon written request of the Cardholder. Provided that the Bank shall be entitled to conduct any form of verification before any such renewal. Moreover the Bank reserves the right to refuse renewal of the Card without assigning any reason.

24. The Card may be cancelled / deactivated by the Bank upon written request of the Cardholder. Provided that the request shall be accompanied with the original destroyed Card. The Bank may conduct any necessary verification prior to cancellation of the Card and may require the Cardholder to furnish any further particulars or documents as may be required according to the policies of the Bank.

25. The Bank shall provide a Statement of Account in respect of the Payroll Card and the All Purpose Card to the Cardholder on request and/or on six monthly basis, and the Cardholder shall be bound by the Statement of Account unless the Cardholder expresses objection in writing accompanied by supporting proofs within a period of fifteen (15) days after the Statement Date printed on the Statement of Account.

26. Withdrawal of fund from the Card Account or another transaction can only be done using the Card and/or any other procedure approved by the Bank at its own discretion. The Bank reserves the right to restrict the maximum daily number and/or daily amount of transactions allowed on the Card based on its own internal policies, which will be subject to change from time to time at the Bank’s discretion.

27. Any fund receipt will be considered effective the moment the Bank registers it in its books.

28. Deposit or withdrawal of funds using a different currency from that of the Bank Account shall be converted using the market rate prevailing on the conversion day, adjusted for a markup as applied by the Bank and/or Visa/MasterCard International.

29. The Bank shall be empowered to reject crediting or booking in the Bank Account any remittance of money intended for the Account Holder if there is lack of clarity or mistake in the data received by the Bank.

30. Provision of status reports of any requested transaction shall be at the discretion of the Bank, provided the signature affixed, according to the consideration of the Bank, thereto does not match the specimen available at the Bank, the inscription or information on the document is not clear or is incomplete or the Bank doubts other matters or because the Bank Account is being blocked or placed as collateral or is in dispute.

31. The Bank reserves the right in its own discretion to accept or reject fulfilling a transaction request based on the criteria setup by the Bank. The Bank reserves the right not to disclose such criteria to the Cardholder based on its own security and safety policies.

32. The Cardholder is bound by the transaction instruction prepared in connection with the Card Account and will not request the bank to cancel the transaction implemented by the Bank partially or entirely. All transaction disputes will be handled as per the procedures designed by the Bank at its own discretion and the Bank’s decision on all such cases will be final without any right of objection to the Cardholder.

33. In case the Cardholder passes away or is placed under bankruptcy, his/her obligation shall shift to his/her heirs or proxies.

34. The Bank shall charge taxes and/or any other Government levies on the Card Account in accordance with the prevailing State Bank regulations.

35. The Bank is entitled and shall be authorized for such purpose by the Cardholder to make correction, debit or do other things deemed necessary on the, Bank Account or Account balance if there is a transaction or calculation mistake or operational error, or other things requiring corrections.

36. If there is a discrepancy in balance calculation between the Bank and the Cardholder, the parties agree that the Bank’s calculation shall be declared correct and legitimate. The Bank shall be empowered to recover its right if there is a mistake causing the Cardholder to receive an incorrect entitlement and the Cardholder shall be obliged to return it to the Bank, for this purpose the Cardholder authorizes the Bank to debit the Bank Account of the Cardholder at the Bank.

37. The Cardholder is fully responsible for everything related to the Card Account provided by the Bank, including but not limited to the Personal Identification Number (PIN) to conduct transactions through ATM, so that it is not used by any other party whatsoever. The use by the unauthorized parties and all consequences and losses arising shall be the responsibility and risk of the Cardholder.

38. The Cardholder of the Payroll Card and the All Purposes Card must immediately inform the Bank together with a report to the local Police if the Card is lost / stolen. At the discretion of the Bank, the Bank may issue a replacement Card by charging a fee.
39. The Bank is relieved from responsibility for any false use and/or all consequences arising due to loss/theft/disclosure of the Card details and/or PIN to any third party, including but not limited to internet card usage.

40. The Bank is given approval and authorization by the Cardholder to furnish Cardholder information / data, to block, to handover or to debit, at the request of any authorized official or agency or other parties, or to comply with the provisions of the prevailing law.

41. The Cardholder approves the action of the Bank to furnish information on the Cardholder regarding the offer or provision of service from other parties, verbally or in writing.

42. The use of the Card may be cancelled temporarily or permanently upon loss, theft, forgetting the PIN, damage or destruction of the Card; upon pledging as collateral or imposing an attachment to the funds in the Account; upon any breach of the terms on behalf of the Account Holder; upon withholding of the Card by an ATM terminal; on Cardholder’s demand; upon demise of the Cardholder or its putting under judicial disability; upon issuance of a new Card due to its substitution with the previous Card or at the discretion of the Bank.

43. The Bank is further entitled and authorized by the Cardholder to block the Account Balance if there is a party declaring owning or co-owning of the balance, or there is a dispute on the Bank Account and/or the Account Balance or among the Cardholders or among the parties claiming to be the heir of the Cardholder or among the managers or owners of the company, which matter is entirely at the discretion of the Bank itself.

44. If the Card is blocked under Clause 43 above, it shall remain temporarily blocked until its reactivation after the appearance of the Cardholder in person and then together submitting a request in writing on that. Otherwise, the Card shall remain temporarily blocked until the expiry date of the Card. The temporary blocking of the Card shall be deactivated upon the expiry date of the Card or upon issuance of a new Card.

45. The Card, with the exception of the Gift Card, shall be permanently blocked upon the confirmation of Cardholder/Cardholder’s death and any credit balance appearing in Card Account shall be paid by the Bank entirely on its own discretion.

46. The Bank is entitled to offset the account balance with any other obligation of the Cardholder to the Bank including but not limited to credit cards, auto financing and housing products offered by the Bank. For this purpose, the Cardholder delegates the authority to the Bank to debit the Account balance without prior notice.

47. Card Account closing may be done by the Bank from time to time, and the Cardholder delegates authority for such purpose, if there is false information or document, or the Cardholder violates the provisions of the Card Account, or violates the prevailing regulations, or there is a condition that has met the requirements for account closing including but not limited to inactive account or at the discretion of the Bank itself. This provision does not reduce the right of the Bank from time to time to close the account at its own discretion without prior notice or approval from the Cardholder.

48. In respect of the Payroll Card and All Purpose Card, the Cardholder may cancel the facility offered herein with at least two months notice in writing on closing of the Account or with at least two months written notice for cancellation. The Cardholder shall forthwith cut the card in two vertical halves and return the Card to the Bank and obtain a valid receipt thereof. Such termination shall also be deemed a termination of all the facilities on the Card accorded by the Bank to the Cardholder. In the event charges are incurred on the Card after the Cardholder claims to have destroyed the Card, the Cardholder shall be entirely liable for the charges incurred on the card whether or not the same are the result of misuse and whether or not the Bank has been intimated of the destruction of the Card.

49. The Bank may close the Card Account or cancel the Card and all its facilities without providing any reason on it.

50. In case of termination of these terms the Bank, with respect to the Payroll Card and the All Purposes Card, is entitled to freeze a balance on the account at Bank’s discretion for a period of 60 days as funds covering all subsequent instructions to settle. During the period of closing the Card is deactivated and the Cardholder can not submit any instructions with the aid of the Card.

51. Card Account closing shall not require prior notice whilst the obligation of the Cardholder that exists or will exist must be settled by the Cardholder to the Bank including overdraft. All related documents must be returned to the Bank upon its first request.

52. The Bank shall return the balance of the Card Account, if any, in respect to Payroll Card and the All Purposes Card, after deducting the obligations of the Cardholder, without having to pay markup, by sending a cheque or the like or requesting the Cardholder to get the item itself at the office of the Bank.

53. All correspondence to the Cardholder, in respect to Payroll Card and the All Purposes Card, shall be addressed to the address recorded at the Bank. Change of address shall not be effective if the notice in writing including the supporting document has not been received by the Bank and all consequences shall not be the responsibility of the Bank.

54. In consideration of the Bank providing the Cardholder with the facility of the Card, the Cardholder hereby agrees to indemnify and keep the bank indemnified from and against all actions, claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, personal injury, costs, charges and expenses what so ever which the Bank may at any time incur, sustain, suffer or be put to as a consequence of or by reason of or arising out of providing the Cardholder the said facility of the Card or by reason of the Bank’s acting in good faith and taking or refusing to take or omitting to take action on the Cardholder’s instructions, and in particular arising directly out of the negligence, mistake or misconduct of the Cardholder; breach or non-compliance of the rules, terms and conditions relating to the Card and the account and/or fraud or dishonesty relating to any transaction by the Cardholder or his employee or agents.

55. The Cardholder agrees to indemnify the Bank for any machine/mechanical error/failure. The Cardholder shall also indemnify the Bank fully against any loss on account of misplacement by the courier or loss-in-transit of the Card/PIN.

56. Without prejudice to the forgoing, the Bank shall be under no liability what so ever to the Cardholder in respect of any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly out of:

  • Any defect in quality of goods or services supplied;

  • The refusal of any person to honor or accept a Card.

  • The malfunction of any computer terminal;

  • Effecting transaction instructions other than by a Cardholder.

  • Handing over of the Card by the Cardholder to anybody other than the designated employees of the Bank at the Bank’s premises.

  • The exercise by the Bank of its right to demand and procure the surrender of the Card prior to the expiry date exposed on its face, whether such demand and surrender is made by and/or procured by the Bank or by any person or computer terminal.

  • The exercise by the Bank of its right to terminate any card.

  • Any injury to the credit, character and reputation of the Cardholder alleged to have been caused by the re-possession of the Card and/or any request for its return or the refusal of any Merchant Establishment to honor or accept the Card.

  • Any mis-statement, misrepresentation, error or omission in any details disclosed by the Bank.

57. Except as otherwise required by law, if the Bank receives any process, summons, order, injunction, execution restraint, levy, lien, information or notice which the Bank in good faith believes calls into question the Cardholder’s ability, or the ability of someone purporting to be authorized by the Cardholder, to transact on the Card, the Bank may, at its option and without liability to the Cardholder to obtain any portion of his funds, or may pay such funds over to an appropriate authority and take any other steps required by applicable law.

58. The Bank reserves the right to deduct from the Cardholder’s account a reasonable service charge and any expenses it incurs, including without limitation reasonable legal fees, due to legal action involving the Card. The Card Holder shall reimburse the Bank if the amount in the Card Account is less than the required deductable amount.

59. The Cardholder agrees to reimburse the Bank for payment of any stamp duties and/or excise or other similar taxes or levies payable in connection with any withdrawals, finances or credit provided by the Bank to the Cardholder.

60. In case the policy is established from the Bank to change the status of the office or to close or move the office of the Bank where the Card Account is recorded, then the Bank shall move the record of the account to the office designated by the Bank.

61. The Bank shall be authorised, at any time, to obtain on line NADRA VERISYS Verification in respect of the Computerized National Identity card of the Cardholder.

62. The Gift Card shall not be used for any purpose or transaction prohibited by law or public policy and Bank may in its sole discretion decline such transactions as and when it deems fit and necessary.

63. The Bank shall not be liable to any person for any consequences, loss or damage resulting from any use of the Gift Card by the Cardholder or any other person.

64. The usage of the Card and the terms and conditions above mention will be governed by the law of Pakistan. The Cardholder undertakes to comply with the applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures while availing and utilizing the Card. All disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Pakistan.
